Young hoopsters gathered at the Curé of Ars gym on January
27th
as Father Jeremiah J. Reilly Council sponsored the local competition in the 2008
Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Contest. The talented group of
sharpshooters battled it out for the honor of going on to represent our Council
and community in district and county shoot-outs.
This year’s champions were Mia Tallerico,
Mary Catherine Zehnder, Danielle Losee, Emily Zehnder, Zachary Eisner, Tim
McGovern, Brian Downey, Conor Murphy and Brian Karp. A great time was had by all!
Next stop for our young champs was
the District Shootout on February 9th at St. Raphael's in East Meadow. Brian
Downey, Mary Catherine Zehnder and Emily Zehnder were victorious against
tough competition and move on to the County Finals on March 9th.
Emily continued her winning ways at
the County competition, winning in a shoot-out to advance to the next level.
She moves on to the Regional Championship on March 29th, where she
will compete for the chance to go to West Point for the State Finals!
