Young hoopsters gathered at the Curé of Ars gym on January 28^th as Father Jeremiah J. Reilly Council sponsored the local competition in the 2007 Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Contest.  The talented group of sharpshooters battled it out for the honor of going on to represent our Council and community in district and county shoot-outs.

This year’s champions were Noreen Prunier, Elizabeth Izzo, Allison Tamney, Brendan Harkin, Michael Fontanella, Kyle Wechsler and Patrick Galindo.  Familiar faces were again in evidence, with Noreen, Allison, Michael and Kyle repeating as champions . A great time was had by all! 

Next stop for our young champs was the District Shootout on February 24th at St. Raphael's in East Meadow.  Facing tough competition, our group made a good showing, with Kyle Wechsler advancing to the County Championships and Michael Fontanella losing a tough tie-breaking shootout.

A great time was had by all!

Kyle Wechsler was victorious at the County Championships, beating all challengers by hitting 21 of 25 shots!  Unfortunately, his journey ended there, as he was unable to take part in the Regional Championships due to a previous commitment.  We are sure he will be back next year!.
