Many have asked  each year "What exactly is the Godfather's Ball and how did it get it's name?"

Well  - that is a good question - one which  I myself asked when we first got involved. The Godfather's Ball  got it's name  before  Cathy and I  got involved but the origin of  the name we have heard is that during the first few years this event was held, the women of Regina Residence  considered the Knights of Columbus who hosted this ball to be Christian Godfather's  to their  babies through their continued faith and charity work.  So, the name stuck.

Other people  ask "What else can we do to help?"

   There are several things anyone can do to help;

  1. First - pray for the mothers and babies and those that  help care for them.

  2. Donate new goods or services that we can raffle off during the event.  We can  pick up donations or you can  drop them off at our house. Every year local businesses and  our membership donate items. Not item is too small - Cathy makes wonderful themed baskets which are usually made from  multiple donations. We can always use  big baskets too. We have raffled  everything from car washes to big golf umbrellas ;-)

  3. Third, donate to the residence by a check made to the KofC 6561 or CDA 1756 and write Regina Residence in the memo area.

  4. And of course, join us on April 21st and enjoy the Godfathers Ball,  get a group together and  reserve a table (or 2 or 3;-) Eat, drink and be merry (and of course buy raffle tickets ;-)

  5. Help by spreading the word.  forward this message.  Here is a link to the printable flyer - download it and send it to your friends!

The Regina Residence located in Merrick provides confidential counseling and referrals for medical,  financial, and housing resources.  Catholic Charities Regina Maternity Services also offers the following programs for pregnant or parenting young women: Residential support, Prenatal care, Counseling, Parent training, Adoption counseling, and Education.
